quarterfinal win vs. Winnacunnett

Playoffs!!

The Oyster River Bobcats faced tough Winnacunnett in the NHIAA quarterfinal round this weekend. What a nailbiter! OR dominated in periods 2&3, putting 40+ shots on goal but their talented goalie stopped ‘em all.

With no score at the end of regulation, it was Sudden Death overtime. OR prevailed & won 1-0 when Senior forward Lance Abbott lit it up off a pretty pass from Sawyer Levesque. Mr. Cam Beaupre, #8, looked great out there, the epitome of a player consistently making things  happen.

Next up: semifinals in Concord Wednesday night vs. Dover, another tough one. Go Bobcats!

Playoffs!!

The hustling, hard-playing Oyster River Bobcats faced tough Winnacunnett in the NHIAA quarterfinal round this weekend. What a nailbiter!

OR dominated in periods 2&3, putting 40+ shots on goal, yowza. Your talented goalie stopped ‘em all. With no score at the end of regulation, it was Sudden Death overtime. OR prevailed & won when Senior forward Lance Abbott lit it up off a pretty pass from Sawyer Levesque. Next up: semifinals in Concord Wednesday night vs. Dover, another tough one. Go Bobcats!

Big matchup!

IMG_8057Big game tonight at UNH’s Whittemore Center rink with the #2 Oyster River Bobcats battling #1 St. Thomas.

The winner will claim the regular season title and draw a bye in the upcoming NH Division 2 playoff tournament which begins March 4.

My favorite OR hockeyplayer, Junior forward #8 Cam Beaupre, and his talented teammates steadily bonded and unified in a challenging rebuilding year following the loss of nine graduating seniors this past June. Amazing comeback year!

Go get ‘em Bobcats!

moving up to 3rd place

Nice 6-2 team win for Oyster River Bobcats Varsity ice hockey vs. Somersworth-Coe Brown at UNH’s Whittemore Center. Everyone contributed to the W which elevates OR to third place in the state with a 5-2 record. Camden Beaupre (photo courtesy momentsbymadelyn) scored two goals and had one assist. Curtis Leitz scored on a blazing slap shot; Cam Miner, Liam Eddy and Tyler Rinko each got goals. Sophomore backup goalie Cole Harwood did a great job, as did every line and D. Next up; Bedford at St. Anselm’s Tuesday night. Go Cats!

elevating your team

Way to go Camden & team!

Nice 6-2 win for Oyster River Bobcats varsity ice hockey vs. Somersworth-Coe Brown at UNH’s Whittemore Center. Everyone contributed to the W which elevates your team to third place in the state with a 5-2 record. Considering this is a major rebuilding year (with 10 seniors having graduated from the team last year), you’re doing really well.

You had a complete game, playing great offensively and defensively, scoring two goals and logging one assist. You elevated everyone’s play!

Curtis Leitz – who’s become a fixture on your line – scored on a blazing slap shot; Cam Miner, Liam Eddy and Tyler Rinko also got goals. Sophomore backup goalie Cole Harwood did a great job, as did every line and D.

From the moment you step onto the ice in pre-game warmups to the final handshakes with your opponent, Grammy and I are glued to every movement. So proud of you Cam.

Ice skating @ Fenway Park!

IMG_9237IMG_7841IMG_7851IMG_9253 IMG_7874 IMG_9256 IMG_7867 IMG_9254 IMG_7836Ice skating on the baseball field at Fenway Park? Yes!  How did this once-in-a-lifetime event come to be?

  1. Fenway Park recently hosted the National Hockey League (NHL) “Winter Classic” on January 2, a nationally broadcast hockey game between the Bruins and Penguins.  Red Sox ownership decided to keep the rink operating longer for other sports teams and private events.
  2.  As a long time Board of Directors member of nonprofit Operation Hat Trick (OHT), I was invited to attend an invitation-only skating event to honor and support wounded veterans and service members. “Feel free to ask your grandkids if they’d like to skate at Fenway,” said Dot Sheehan, OHT founder.  Very nice of her. Your hands went up fast; everyone was all-in.

Bonus #1: skating at Fenway meant getting out of school early!  No problem-o. After we all piled into the Explorer at Noontime, we got sandwiches from The Works and gobbled down our chow while driving South.  Once in Bosotn, there was time to spare, so we checked out a multi-story Target store before walking over to our ballpark-skatepark.

Bonus #2: the hard rain that had been pelting Massachusetts and New Hampshire that day magically held off until the very end, enabling you to skate without getting wet. Awesome timing! It was a blast watching you do your thing on an official NHL rink, Fenway Park all lit up, with music blaring and a 360-degree surround-view of Fenway Park.

When it was over, we visited the fab Time Out Market where we swapped stories and enjoyed delicious food from 15 different food locations.  It’s a large, pretty, open dining destination with long common tables and white lights glowing.  We ate our fill until we reached food coma (the donuts put us over the edge).  Everyone was beat and slept all the way home – except for yours truly, your ever vigilant GrandDude.

Bonus #3:  we all helped an amazing social cause that helps people live better lives every day.  So glad you could be there with me.

An epic afternoon and evening we’ll always remember.

great game Cam!

After tying 1-1 in yesterday’s opening game of the annual holiday Heuchling & Swift Memorial tournament, your Bobcats clinched a solid win in game two, soundly defeating Trumbull, CT 5-2.  You had a great game, scoring one goal and getting two assists. I like this photo of you rushing down the ice from  your left wing position.

Six teams are playing in the four day tournament which is sponsored annually by OR and Martha’s Vineyard.

Opening game of 2022-2023 season

Opening game tonight of 2022-2023 Oyster River High School Varsity hockey season. Everyone psyched. Big rooting section for #8 Cam Beaupre at UNH’s Whittemore Center. 4-3 Win over Dover High Green Wave. Way to kick things off! Boys celly post-game at McD’s, funny!

Happy 17th Birthday Camden!

You’re an amazing grandson with a boat load of talent & interests.

it’s always a blast being with you, whether we’re watching you lead your varsity high school hockey team on the ice, sharing a three generation love of Star Wars, marveling at your tech & academic prowess, zip lining the Whites or just hanging out. So proud of who you are and what you’re accomplishing in your life. Your future is bold and bright!

turning lean to pure muscle in the pre-season

The summer before your Junior year you invested a ton of time going to the gym, building strength and muscle mass for the upcoming 2022-2023 hockey season. Your dedication was amazing; you had a clear outcome in mind and nothing was going to stop you!

All your hard work paid off; the transformation was remarkable. In late August 2022 when we had our fun Star Wars getaway at Disney World, your body was rock solid – amazing to see. Proud of you sir!

You are ready to kick ass and take names. Can’t wait for your Junior season to begin!
