your good luck magic hockey stick

Our big gift to you this Christmas was a custom Bauer hockey stick,  configured to your exact specifications including hand, style, length, blade pattern, flex, extension, grip, finish and color. It even has your name on it (of course!). I’m always blown away by how light and yet durable they are.

We’ve set you up with several sticks over your career – this one’s probably your last.  Hope it brings good luck and special magic for the home stretch of your hockey career.

As I said to you Christmas day: “May you score many goals and make many assists.”  I bet you make this come true.

senior year hockey season kicks off

Where did the time go? Somehow it’s been 12 years since I wrote the first blog about hockey and Camden Beaupre – December 10, 2011 to be exact. Since that time you’ve transformed from little boy to muscled and brainy man, experiencing exciting wins, crushing defeats, laughs, cries and pure joy.

Now, as your final hockey season awaits, you’re poised and ready for what will hopefully become your most exciting season ever. No one knows how things will unfol, but you’re ready and eager to make things happen as one of the undisputed leaders of a team that features only three seniors: you, Cayden, and your buddy Cam Minor.

Go forth and conquer Cam and make sure you have a ton of fun along the way.

Happy 18th Cam!

Happy 18th birthday Camden!

What an epic journey having you in our lives, watching you grow, transforming from a touchdown beach baby to a high school hockey star and academic achiever.

So proud of who you are and what you’ve already accomplished. You’ve got everything to succeed in life and make the world a better place.

Keep on seizing the day (Carpe Diem!) and always believe in yourself. Love you to Pluto and back, actually, even further.

Congrats on a 16-0 Dover Wild season

Hockey is a nearly year-round activity and we love every minute of it. Case in point: your summer U18 Wild hockey team, one of the most talented you’ve ever played with. Every line was strong, you often scored at will, defense was excellent, players unselfish.

You guys fit like a glove without trying, there was an easy, natural vibe.

By season’s end you had earned a 16-0 record, making it to the state semifinals where you battled in a physical, close game.

You were one of the undisputed stars of your team, and closed out the season ranked the #3 scorer in the entire league.   Excellent prep for your Senior year of ORHS hockey, you’ll be in great shape. I’ve got a gut feeling it could become the best stretch of hockey of your entire life.

congrats on a remarkable 2022-2023 hockey season – stats for your Junior year

Congrats an a fantastic season Cam, so proud of you. In addition to what appears on the screen below from your recent Hockey Banquet, I would add:

  • definition of team player; a unifier and positive force; being happy for your teamates
  • unselfish; you often pass – no surprise why you were tops in assists this year
  • ability to play well offensively & defensively
  • a mentor to other players
  • you’ve always been skilled at taking the puck into the slot and crease; we love watching you fly down the ice at full speed with the skill and finesse to take a shot on goal
  • a class act; the way you carry yourself and represent your personal brand

Thinking back on how little you were when you started skating… incredible development; you stuck with it, worked hard and became an amazing player.  Love the photo of you and Tyler Rinko, childhood friends, growing up playing hockey together. With Tyler and eight other seniors graduating in June the OR Bobcats will be relying on you, Cam Minor, Cayden to inspire the younger players and unify the team.  I”m betting you’ll accomplish this and more.

Proud of you.  Grammy and I already miss going to your hockey games!

Unexpectedly strong season (after losing nine Seniors) ends with painful Semifinal playoff loss in “Curse you Concord”

After a nice quarterfinal win at home, it was time for an exciting D2 Semifinal game, the third year in a row ORHS reached that position in the playoffs.

Despite a terrific ORHS season and a #3 ranking going into the playoffs, everyone was nervous. Two reasons. Your opponent was #2 seeded Dover, a red hot team that’s won its fair share of state titles over the past several years. Reason number two? The game was taking place in Concord, NH at the dreaded Everett arena, scene of many, repeated playoff losses for you and many earlier ORHS teams.

There was reason for optimism however! Your team had been playing great, allowing only 7 goals over the previous five games combined. During the regular season, Dover and OR split their meetings with OR beating Dover, 4-3 to open the season, and Dover beating the Bobcats 5-4 in February.

The nervous vibe grew worse as Dover stayed red hot, erupting for four third period goals on the way to their 10th straight win, a 7-3 victory over your hard playing, yet stunned, Bobcats.

Damn you Dover, you’ve won enough titles! FU Everett Arena, you are nothing but jinxes and curses.

Until then, congrats on a great season – it was amazing because after losing nine seniors, you guys ended up in the #3 position and made it to the Semifinals. It’s fair to say no one expected this kind of turnaround performance. You had a great Junior year of ORHS hockey. Very proud of you!

Here’s hoping your final season, your Senior 2023-2024 season – will break the curse and produce a historic good vibe outcome. Never give up! Never quit! Keep on believing!
