{"id":383,"date":"2013-02-26T00:27:18","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T00:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/camden.papabeaupreblog.com\/?p=383"},"modified":"2015-04-23T20:14:26","modified_gmt":"2015-04-23T20:14:26","slug":"our-first-3-musketeers-adventure-of-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/camden.papabeaupreblog.com\/?p=383","title":{"rendered":"our first 3 musketeers adventure of 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<article id=\"post-505\">\n<div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time for a three musketeers adventure\u201d I announced, \u201cthe first three musketeers adventure of 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You all looked at me, and in your own words, in your own time, you said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cwhat are we going to do, where are we going to go, when are we going?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure what we\u2019ll do yet, but I can guarantee it\u2019ll be something fun\u2026 and there will be something yummy,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cthere\u2019s always something yummy, are we going to that breakfast place we always go to?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It was day two of school vacation \u2013 Tuesday, February 26 \u2013 a perfect time to get together again.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you want me to tell you where we\u2019re going before we go\u2026\u00a0 other times, you like to play my riddle game.\u00a0 This time you were less patient:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cJust tell us what we\u2019re going to do!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2026 you all said excitedly from the rear of the \u201cYouk\u201d as I drove south toward Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst stop:\u00a0 The Friendly Toast\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018Yay! I\u2019m going to get pancakes.\u00a0 Me too!\u00a0 Not me, I\u2019m going to get french toast!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSecond stop:\u00a0 the oldest house in New Hampshire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Uh, that one fell kinda flat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThird stop: a Fort where we\u2019ll be able to play inside buildings and have a snowball fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>cool! a real fort? like a civil war fort?\u201d Camden asked<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I said, \u201cit\u2019s my favorite fort around here.\u00a0 You\u2019re going to like it.\u00a0 It\u2019s even better than Fort Constitution \u2013 the fort we saw last summer after the Gundalow ride.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>what\u2019s after that?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFourth stop: the beach house!\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>cool!\u00a0 we haven\u2019t been there in a long time\u2026\u00a0 can we play some board games? Ben asked<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSure,\u201d I said as we parked by Friendly Toast and prepared to get out. Here\u2019s a photo of you guys when we first got there.\u00a0 See Goat Man?\u00a0 Ben and Camden like to make faces that make them look, well, not quite right.\u00a0 Funny!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_5999.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_5999\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/584x388xIMG_5999-1024x682.jpg.pagespeed.ic.NaF8UWSHLx.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"388\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Everyone ended up getting pancakes except me; Emma gave up on her french toast idea.\u00a0 I got two orders of crispy bacon for everyone to share.\u00a0 Ben loves the bacon, and so do I. Emma and Ben had orange juice and Camden got a vanilla shake.\u00a0 I ate a club sandwich and drank half of my chocolate shake. We were stuffed but ready for action.<\/p>\n<p>Here you are after we had finished eating and you were fooling around (time to head out!):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_6002\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/584x558xIMG_6002-1024x980.jpg.pagespeed.ic.gE2qZyuThz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"558\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before leaving, you all made funny faces in the carnival mirror at the back of the restaurant.\u00a0 I think this is one of the best 3 Musketeers photos of all time!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_6006\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/584x766xIMG_6006-780x1024.jpg.pagespeed.ic.gQsQZelxWk.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"766\" \/><\/a> Next up was the oldest house in New Hampshire, the Jackson House.\u00a0 I told you about the history, and pointed out the steep roof on the backside that almost touched the road. I tried to have you imagine what the land around it would have looked like over 300 years ago with no other buildings around.\u00a0 Hard to imagine now because the neighborhood is so built up. \u00a0\u00a0 Here\u2019s the Jackson House:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_6008\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/300x200xIMG_6008-300x200.jpg.pagespeed.ic.Mb1jqyDd3W.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>You were anxious to get to the fort- this was definitely what everyone was most excited about.\u00a0\u00a0 Being the off season, it was closed when we got there, but we walked in and had the place to ourselves.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!!!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>you said as you ran ahead full speed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_6010\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/300x200xIMG_6010-300x200.jpg.pagespeed.ic.-udvfW6AiE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>I showed you around all the different structures: first the big mound behind which they mounted the cannons; the tunnel (flooded with ice and water; you could barely maneuver through it and Emma got soaked!!); the white blockhouse overlooking the ocean; the old gunpowder and munitions storage; a brick house without a roof and high stone walled areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_6014\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/584x798xIMG_6014-749x1024.jpg.pagespeed.ic.EANV5FpVnJ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"798\" \/><\/a>After exploring, I started a snowball fight \u2013 me against the three of you.\u00a0 You hid in the brick building without a roof \u2013 I was outside, tossing snowballs over the walls.\u00a0 Then I\u2019d charge the building and you\u2019d fire away.
