{"id":222,"date":"2012-06-20T21:52:53","date_gmt":"2012-06-20T21:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/camden.papabeaupreblog.com\/?p=222"},"modified":"2015-04-23T20:14:43","modified_gmt":"2015-04-23T20:14:43","slug":"the-first-day-of-summer-and-the-3-musketeers-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/camden.papabeaupreblog.com\/?p=222","title":{"rendered":"the first day of summer and the 3 musketeers adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>I took the day off today to celebrate the first day of summer with my three musketeer grandkids \u2013 Ben, Emma &amp; Camden.\u00a0 It was a stellar day, a classic summer morning, bright, sunny and heating up fast.<\/p>\n<p>On several occasions in the past, I\u2019ve posed a riddle for our upcoming adventure. You guys try to guess what we\u2019ll be doing, before we do it. Today\u2019s riddle was:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>something yummy<\/p>\n<p>something funny<\/p>\n<p>something old<\/p>\n<p>something high<\/p>\n<p>something cold<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After picking you up in the \u201cYouk,\u201d we made our way to Portsmouth for breakfast at The Friendly Toast.\u00a0 This was the first time I had taken you there \u2013 and actually it was my first time too.\u00a0 The \u201cToast\u201d is not only friendly, it\u2019s an eclectic place to hang out with all kinds of interesting things to see around the restaurant.\u00a0 We had fun playing I Spy while waiting for breakfast to arrive.<a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1556.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1556\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1556-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1554.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1554\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1554-249x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Ben, you ordered chocolate chip pancakes, and so did Camden.\u00a0 They literally filled up your entire plate!\u00a0 Emma, you were in the mood for french toast, which was delicious (I stole a bite).\u00a0 I had scrambled eggs with veggies and a huge slice of toast which was, indeed, very friendly.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>something yummy<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With full bellies, we made our way to Macro Polo on Market Street.\u00a0 It\u2019s a very unusual store with lots of funny things.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1566.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1566\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1566-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>When we walked in you immediately spotted a toiler filled with fake poo!\u00a0 This was a huge sensation, and I ended up buying some fake dog poo and fake mustaches among other crazy items. You guys laughed as you looked around the store.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>something funny<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We piled into the Youk and made our way to Newcastle, the little historic town that is next to my favorite place in the world, Portsmouth.\u00a0 You didn\u2019t know what I was up to and kept asking me \u201cWhere are we going?\u201d\u00a0 You wanted to know!<\/p>\n<p>Soon we pulled up to Fort Constitution, parked the car and Emma insisted everyone wear their mustaches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1567.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1567\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1567-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>We all felt the intense heat as we walked the line along the Coast Guard facility toward the old Fort which was the site of the first attack of the Revolutionary War \u2013 even earlier than the battle of Lexington in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1570.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1570\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1570-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>You had a blast running around the fort, exploring the hidden spaces, climbing the hills and peeking through the granite stone windows toward the Piscataqua River.\u00a0 We took a break on the rocks and drank our Gatorade and had a snack.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>something old<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1583.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1583\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1583-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"388\" \/><\/a>As we left the Fort I asked if you wanted to stay in Portsmouth or head to Moody Beach. It was unanimous \u2013 we would head to the beach house.\u00a0 As I drove North, we crossed one of the highest points in New Hampshire and looked down onto the city of Porstmouth from far above the Piscataqua Bridge.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>something high<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We took Route 95 all the way, hoping to get there as soon as possible. Everyone wanted to go in the water and cool down. You kept asking \u201cWhen are we going to be there?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once we got to the Wells exit, it was another 15 minutes or so to Moody Beach which is part of Wells but is actually on Ogunquit Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in America.\u00a0 Molly and Ainsley met us there, as did Grammy and your Moms.<\/p>\n<p>We had fun boogie boarding in the Atlantic:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>something cold<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1601.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1601\" src=\"http:\/\/ben.papabeaupreblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/IMG_1601-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>What a great day!
